Gijón celebrates the 8th European Congress on Electric Mobility and the first edition of All Electric Society

VIII Congreso Europeo movilidad electrica

This September, Gijón has become the centre of electric mobility in Europe by hosting two key events in the sector: the 8th European Congress on Electric Mobility (CEVE2024) and the first edition of the All Electric Society International Summit.

These meetings, held at the Asturias International Trade Fair (FIDMA) from 18 to 20 September, constituted a focal point for professionals, academics and students interested in the transformation of mobility and urban sustainability.

8th European Congress on Electric Mobility: a forum for the future

CEVE2024, organised by AEDIVE, took place on 18 and 19 September, bringing together experts from across the entire electromobility value chain, from charger manufacturers to charging point operators and service companies. This forum discussed the current opportunities and challenges of the sector, marked by the regulatory changes promoted by the European Commission.

Some of the topics discussed included the deployment of charging infrastructure, the European AFIR regulation, the integration of the electric vehicle into the electrical system and cybersecurity in electric mobility. Payment services and user experience were also discussed, as these are essential for building trust in this emerging technology.

First edition of the international All Electric Society summit

Concurrently with CEVE2024, the first edition of the international All Electric Society summit took place on 19 and 20 September. Organised by the University of Oviedo Foundation together with the Gijón Smart Cities Chair and the international network EduNet, this summit highlighted the importance of preparing professionals for the electrification of the 21st century.

Attended by more than 500 people, the event facilitated knowledge sharing between government leaders, technology experts, industry representatives and academics. Panels, round tables, workshops and gamification activities promoted networking and hands-on learning, whilst the technology exhibition area allowed people to explore innovations and test drive electric vehicles.

An event which consolidates Gijón as a benchmark for sustainable mobility

Thanks to the support of Gijón City Council, the Gijón Convention Bureau, the Gijón Chamber of Commerce and the Government of the Principality of Asturias, these events positioned the city as a benchmark for electromobility and sustainability. In addition, both events were a platform for attracting young talents to STEM disciplines, vital for the future of this growing sector.

CEVE2024 and the All Electric Society Summit offered an unparalleled opportunity to boost innovation and technological transformation, consolidating Gijón as the epicentre of electric and sustainable mobility.
